L&G appoints Jasan Fitzpatrick to manage private debt and venture investments

The role will take responsibility for providing access to alternative assets for defined contribution pension funds.

Legal & General Capital has appointed Jasan Fitzpatrick as managing director of principal investment, with responsibility for venture capital, SME finance, build to rent and affordable housing.

In his new role, Fitzpatrick will be responsible for evolving LGC’s principal investment strategy and explore new ways to deploy capital and enhance returns across alternative assets. One major area he will focus on will be gaining access to venture capital for defined contribution customers.

In the private debt space, LGC owns 40 percent of credit manager Pemberton, which it reports has deployed more than €3 billion across 30 deals during 2019 and has funds under management of approximately €6.1 billion.

Fitzpatrick joined LGC in July 2018 from CALA Group and has more than 20 years’ experience in property and investment. Before CALA he was general counsel and company secretary at Premium Credit Limited and general counsel and company secretary at Northern Rock.
